Hi friends,

I’ve really enjoyed the rich discussions we’ve had over the past few months and am looking forward to continuing these groups on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in March from 12-1 EST.

For a little recap of group structure & intent:

  • What? A small-group space for those of us managing birth-related pelvic floor injuries and conditions to come together and build supportive community as we navigate what is often an isolating experience. These groups will include open-ended support and themed discussions, and will be drop-in style (i.e., no pre-registration necessary, and it’s ok if you can’t make every group). Note: this group will not be therapy or a replacement for clinical mental health services.

  • Why? Managing a pelvic floor injury or condition can be challenging… and it often feels more cope-able when we feel less alone.

  • Who? These groups will be open to all paid subscribers ($5 monthly) and I also have scholarship spots available for those who would like to join but are experiencing financial strain, in line with my commitment to improving support resources for all. Please contact me (drkimberleyjohnson@gmail.com) if you are interested in this option. In this group, we will welcome the mess and magic of being human, so please don’t feel like you have to have yourself “put together” to be a part of this. Importantly, part of feeling comfortable bringing mess not just magic is a collective commitment to kindness, inclusion, and compassion, extended to both others and ourselves.

  • Where? Zoom (link for the February group included for paid subscribers at the bottom of this post). I do ask that everyone be willing to join the group with video on. If you need to turn it off for a few minutes at any point (e.g.,, some have fed their babies during groups) that’s absolutely fine, but in general, keeping our cameras on both enhances the discussion/community feel as well as increases sense of safety and trust. Note: these groups will never be recorded and all who attend will agree that any personal information that is shared in this group will not be share elsewhere.

  • When? 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in March, see below for details.

March Dates & Discussion Topics:

Discussion Group 1: Wednesday, March 11 from 12-1 EST; Theme: Navigating family planning & associated decisions in the context of a prior pelvic floor injury or condition.

Discussion Group 2: Wednesday, March 25th from 12-1 EST; Theme: Exploring identity and sense of self — extending beyond our physical bodies and capabilities — after a birth injury/pelvic floor condition.

Lastly, during our most recent community group, I also shared that on March 18th I’ll be traveling to DC for a pelvic floor procedure involving PRP & stem cell injections, and I’d be happy to take some time to share about my experiences and post-procedure recovery when we meet the following week (3/25). This is something I’ve been learning about, contemplating, and saving toward for years, and it’s hard to believe it’s coming up in just a few weeks. I’ll be honest, I am both excited and nervous about this procedure, but I’m happy to let you into whatever messy middle space I find myself in on the 25th.

I’m looking forward to seeing you, and as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or preferred discussion topics for future groups.

See you soon,

Kimberley
